    Description

GERMANY – SPECIAL COVER FOR THE GRAF ZEPPLIN ROUND TRIP FLIGHT VIA FREDRICHSHAFEN, GERMANY – BRAZIL – FLORIDA – CHICAGO - TO DELIVER MAIL TO THE CENTURY OF PROGRESS EXPO IN CHICAGO
    This is a Frost #4)6)127-197A - Frost’s Catalog – “Special Airship Mail and Postcards Catalog” – 2005
It has all the prerequisites one wants to see on such a cover.
    It is postmarked Friedrichshafen OCT.14.1933
Franked 2 Mark blue Chicago Fahrt Weltausstellung 1933 overprint Zepllin issue, plus two other issues.
The Cover has a pre-printed flight cachet at left plus the red triangle-shaped confirmation cachet.
On the back is the Machine receiver printed in Chicago – Inside a circle “CHICAGO – Oct 26 – 10 AM – 1933 – ILL and a 1 off to the left side”. And in an adjacent rectangle – CENTURY OF PROGRESS WORLD’S FAIR JUNE 1 – NOV 1 CHICAGO 1933
The envelope is empty and it appears it was never opened. The bottom of the flap was sealed with a blank office label, most likely to indicate it was not to be opened.
It is a very pleasing cover in appearance and looks to be damage free although it is apparent that the cover has been handled. The front is quite clean while on the back there is a small spot next to the right side of the “Office Label” and a small smudge to the first blue edge mark up from the bottom on the right side of the back.
The catalog value for this cover is 0, however I have never seen this cover actually sell at this value.
If you purchase multiple items please do not pay right away – instead request an invoice that way I can adjust your S&H fee down due to it being a combined shipment before you pay.
